LET’S GET PRODUCTIVE

One time I asked my genius friend (who is always trying to hack life) what his favorite Chrome plugins were and his response was, “wow, you’re even more of a nerd than I am”. That being said, I constantly find myself preaching the plugin/ lifehack gospel- because without these little babies life on my MacBook would be a lot more inconvenient.

That being said, Team Freck & I are sharing our favorite Chrome and Gmail plugins that make our work and every day lives easier and more importantly, quicker. Yeah, maybe some plugins support shopping habits but they also help us get our acts together to run a business, so let’s get into it.

GMAIL PLUGINS

Boomerang is gonna to be the Gmail plugin that changes your email game for life.. well for us at least. This plugin is both iOS and Android-friendly which is amazing for all of us workin’ people out there. So, with this Gmail plugin you can do the following:

  • Send an email later: With Boomerang, you can write an email and schedule it to be sent automatically at the perfect time… for when you’re composing emails at 1am (like I am so often) and stack them up to send at 6:37am so you look like you’re slaying it while you’re really catching some zzz’s like a 1-hour snoozer.
  • Remind you if you don’t hear back: We have all dealt with some time sensitive emails or agreements. Boomerang lets you select to be reminded if nobody replies, so you know when you need to follow up. I literally use this every day to stay on top of my vendors/ printers/ lab/ etc. This is also a lifesaving tool if you’re in sales, Boomerang has probably made me hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
  • Follow up reminders: Boomerang to takes messages out of your inbox until you actually need them. Just click the Boomerang button when you have an email open, and choose when you need it again. Boomerang will bring it back to your inbox, marked unread, starred or even at the top of your message list – THANK YOU.

CloudHQ is super beneficial for anyone who has to write the same email multiple times (helloooooo, salespeople). There are a bunch of functions of this Gmail plugin, but I mostly use it for email templates so everytime someone asks me if we sell outside of the US, Canada or EU I don’t have to spend time on that. CloudHQ literally saves me & Team Freck over an hour per day. That’s no joke.

CHROME PLUGINS

Honey is no doubt the best Chrome Plugin that exists. Who doesn’t love a little online shopping and saving some $$ while you’re shopping or even ordering pizza (Fridays in the Freck office, hehe). Honey does the work for you where the plugin finds all the possible coupons the internet knows of, and applies them to your cart in seconds. Zina once saved $50 at Sephora that she otherwise was down to pay. Hell yeah! Here’s to some more retail therapy and discounts on some take out

Grammarly is the plugin that Team Freck cannot live without. We do too much typing and email sending to allow ourselves to be grammatically incorrect, and Grammarly allows us to seem like we got our shit together. Literally, if you write ANYTHING on your computer, you need Grammarly.

Instapaper is a simple tool for saving web pages to read later on any of your devices. This browser extension may be used to save articles directly into your Instapaper queue (it’s better than the bookmark situation). You can save anything with one click and read anywhere while adding notes. That’s hella tight, but you know what’s even cooler? There is a dictionary tool (so you don’t have to tab out to see what “agastopia” means), there is a speedreading tool which you can set to your max speed and you can read as fast as humanly possible, AND you can make boards. It’s like Pinterest for articles, I have one for feminist articles, recipes, news, and upcoming events that I might want to reference later. It’s seriously awesome.

Get down to business, boo!  Thanks for checking out what we use to hack life, and if you know of one that’s not on this list I would seriously love to hear about it. Please give me all your plugins, I need them, hit the comments!
