It's spooky szn y'all!
Thatās right, itās October and this is the first of many Halloween related posts to come this season. Like many of you, Team Freck is obsessed with Halloween, so weāre kicking off the season with a guide for all you interested in where to get spooked in Los Angeles.Ā We've added a bunch of new ones from last year to step up your scare game.
Ā
McKameyĀ Manor
The Chamber Camino Del Norte, San Diego, CA 92129
McKamey ManorĀ is a very in your face, aggressive and claustrophobic experience, not your standard ābooā. This is more of an audience participation type of situation. Thereās no cost, but you have to get on the waitlist and sign a liability waiver because theyāre not just jumping out to give you a little scare. The cast at the McKamey Manor are allowed to not only touch you butĀ give you unwanted haircuts, drench you in fake blood, make you eat unknown things and tie you up. The experience can last anywhere from 2-8 hours..no thanks. No one has experienced the whole thing, obviously because itās terrifying but if youāre into that kinda thing then maybe this the place for you.
The Basement: A Life Escape Room Experience
12909 Foothill Blvd, Sylmar CA, 91342
The BasementĀ is a little bit different than the other items on this listĀ because itās not a haunted house, itās an escape room venue with 3 different experiences. In each experience, you will be locked inside for a designated amount of time while you and your team, up to 6-10 depending on your escape room, try to figure out how to get out. The rooms contain clues, trap doors, and hidden items. Anything thatās not glued or bolted down can be moved and may be an integral piece in your quest to escape..Ā and survive. Team Freck hasnāt really partaken in anything like this but seems like a pretty dope thing to do if amusementĀ parks arenāt your thang.
Creep LAĀ Haus of CreepĀ
ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90021
Creep LA returns this fall, welcoming all into the dark-heart of downtown with their fifth installment: Haus of Creep. Haus guests will spend the hour roaming and avant-garde and nightmarish playground of over a dozen installations, witnessing grand shocking scenes as well as intimate scares. Elaborate lighting and diverse and detailed environments create a surreal world in which guests may find themselves lost, unsure where reality ends and the show begins.

Within the foothills of Midnight Falls, The Hayride leads to a thrilling adventure of horrors afflicting the town.Ā Out in the darkness, a portal has opened spilling hideous creatures from its rotted mouth. The spirit of Halloween comes to life surrounding helpless victims brave enough to board The Hayride.Ā
Knotts Scary Farm
8039 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620
Weāll start the list off a little more family friendly.Ā Knottās Scary FarmĀ is on select nights September 20 ā October 31, 2018 with tickets starting at $42.Ā The theme park is completely transformed featuring haunted mazes and attractions, sinister shows and more than 1,000 horrifying creatures lurking in the fog and hiding in the park. This is the one to go with your family and friends, and still enjoy your time. Zina recommends theĀ Special Ops Zombie Laser tag.. even though she just sat back in a corner lol.
Universal Studios
100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608
If youāre a fan of some spooky shit like Stranger Things,Ā Poltergeist, and the First Purge than youāre gonna loveĀ Universal Studio Horror Nights. Get your spook on the selected nights, Sept. 14 thru Nov. 3, tickets starting at $69. If youāve ever wondered what itād be like to be in those shows or movies.. why not head to the movies studios that brought them into our lives in the first place?Ā They basically create immersive worlds of the living, breathing icons from the most twisted imaginations in film and television, and youāll have to figure out how to get through those mazes and not give yourself whiplash.Ā
